2. Do I need to register to participate?
Yes, you’ll need to register the first time by providing your email. This allows Ostras to offer you access to the pilot campaign and track your points, which can lead to exciting rewards.
3. Is there a cost to participate in Ostras?
No, participating in Ostras is completely free. You can win rewards by simply rescuing food that has an expiry date of 5 days or less. Take the opportunity to contribute to reducing food waste while earning rewards for your actions.
4. What are the benefits of using Ostras?
By rescuing food products that have 5 days or less before expiration, you earn Ostras Points, which you can redeem for the reward of your choice in the “Premio” section of the app. To find out how many points you’ll earn, see point 5 below!

6. Where can I earn Ostras rewards?
During this pilot phase, our service and rewards are currently available only in Spain. The products covered by this PROMOTION include all food items with an expiration date of 5 days or less that the Participant has purchased from a physical supermarket in Spain—regardless of the supermarket.

7. How to earn rewards when buying products with an expiry date of 5 days or less?
Steps to participate:
- Purchase up to 3 units of participating products per receipt in a physical supermarket.
- Keep the purchase receipt as proof.
- Scan the QR code on the Ostras homepage or click on one of the following link (www.app.ostrasdescuentos.com) to get to the Ostras app.
- Complete the form, upload valid purchase receipts (legible, uncut, showing the retailer’s name, the products, the amounts paid, and the date), as well as photos of the product labels with visible expiration dates, and provide the requested information.
- Accept the Legal Terms and the Privacy Policy.

8. When should I submit my supermarket tickets?
You have 24 hours from the time of purchase to upload your ticket. It is crucial that the date and time of purchase are clearly visible on the photo you capture. Make sure the image is clear to facilitate the verification process. We recommend that you send the receipt as soon as you have made the purchase.
9. What kind of receipts can I upload?
You can upload receipts from any physical supermarket —regardless of the chain— in Spain, for products you bougth that had an expiration date of 5 days or less. Ensure the receipt is legible, with the purchase date and saved products clearly visible.
10. How long does it take to validate my receipt?
Once your receipt is uploaded, the validation process can take up to 72 hours. You will receive a email when your receipt has been approved and the rewarded Ostras Points will be automatically credited to you.
11. Can I upload more than one receipt per day?
Yes, you can upload multiple receipts, but each receipt must be for a different purchase. However, please make sure that you have purchased products with an expiry date of less than 5 days on this purchase.
12. Can I share my supermarket tickets with other Ostras users?
Each ticket can only be used once! If the same receipt is submitted by several users, only the first user who submitted it will receive the related Ostras Points.
13. What happens if my receipt is rejected?
If your receipt is rejected, we will inform you of the reason via email. If you have any further questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
14. Can I earn rewards for products that do not expire in less than 5 days?
No, rewards only apply to products with an expiry date of less than 5 days. Be sure to check expiry dates before submitting a reward request in the app.
15. How do I receive the rewards?
During the current pilot phase, users earn Ostras Points for their participation. These points are credited directly through the app (app.ostrasdescuentos.com). To redeem your rewards, go to the “Premio” section of the app and choose the reward you want—whether it’s a supermarket gift card or a discount from one of our sustainable partners!
16. How can I tell if food is still safe to eat?
🌱 Before throwing food away, trust your senses
Many foods are still good after the “best before” date. Use the Look, Smell, Taste check:
👀 Look – No mold, no unusual spots, normal color/texture.
👃 Smell – Fresh or neutral is fine; bad or sour smell = don’t eat.
👅 Taste – Try a small bite. If it tastes normal, it’s safe; if odd, discard.
🔎 Reminder:
Use by date = safety (don’t eat past it).
Best before = quality (can still be safe if it passes the test).

17. How does recommending a friend work?
For every friend you recommend to Ostras, both you and your friend will be rewarded with 10 Ostras Points.
